How it works · Six steps

From sign-up to a running course in an afternoon.

The whole journey is self-serve. Here is each step with the honest detail: what it asks of you, what it accepts, and what it does with what you give it.

  1. Create a workspace

    Sign in with any email and open a workspace for your department, your school, or just your own course. You become its owner and can invite colleagues as staff or admins.

    • Choose the data region at creation: Sydney or the European Union. Course content, rosters, transcripts and summaries are stored and processed in that region, and the choice is permanent for the workspace.
    • A workspace can hold as many courses as you like; billing and staff are managed once, at the workspace.

  2. Add a card

    A card on file is what activates the workspace. There is no trial period, no upfront charge, and no invoice until real minutes have run.

    • Card handling is by Stripe; the card number never touches our servers.
    • Usage is invoiced monthly in arrears: you use minutes in March, the invoice arrives at the start of April.

  3. Create a course

    Give it a name and pick its engine: voice at $0.25 a minute, or video at $0.60. Every session in the course runs on the engine you chose.

    • Voice is Maya mkIII, an empathic low-latency voice conversation. Video is Maya mkII, a live face-to-face session on camera.
    • You can run different engines in different courses inside one workspace.

  4. Import your roster

    Upload the class list you already have as XLSX or CSV. One email column is required; team and role columns are optional.

    • Students sign in with the email on the roster and land straight in your course; there are no invite codes to distribute.
    • The optional team column groups students, and the optional role column marks tutors and demonstrators, so your teaching staff see the staff side.

  5. Upload the knowledge

    Give Maya the material the course actually uses: notes, readings, lab guides, past papers. PDF, DOCX, TXT and Markdown are accepted.

    • Each file is extracted into an editable document, so you can trim the boilerplate, fix the extraction, and decide exactly what Maya teaches from.
    • Knowledge belongs to the course. Nothing you upload is shared beyond it, or used to teach anyone else’s students.

  6. Sessions run

    Students book time with Maya and meet her live, on your material. Every session is transcribed and summarised for staff within minutes of ending.

    • The staff dashboard shows sessions, transcripts, summaries, per-course and per-student usage, and what the month has cost so far.
    • Spend caps at the workspace and per-student minute allocations keep the bill inside whatever budget you set.

Residency · Sydney or the EU

Your course data stays where you put it.

Universities answer to their own privacy offices, so the region choice sits at the very first step rather than in a settings page you find later. A workspace created in Sydney keeps its course content, rosters, transcripts and summaries in Sydney; a workspace created in the EU keeps them in the EU.
